* The mood about the state of the economy has become slightly less negative.

It sure looks like Fox News is laying the groundwork for an operation to launch Palin’s presidential aspirations, convenient endorsements included.

Fred Barnes Tells The GOP To Be Like Chris Christie And Lie 2:06 pm EST October 6th, 2010 | Republicans | No Comments
* The number of strong Democratic voters has gone up 4 points.

* The Republican lead in the named congressional ballot with likely voters has come down 4 points.
If all goes well for Republicans in the midterm elections, they’ll capture the House and maybe the Senate, having revealed few specifics of what they might do in the next Congress. This makes sense. It’s the Chris Christie strategy.

As almost always with the right – when they accuse you of something, they’re probably doing it.
Some key slides:

Rick Santorum of dog-love fame is forming a PAC. The GOP field is going to be wide open with multiple insane characters vying for the nomination. I get the feel this race will have more than a few similarities to 1996. If you get a chance, read Michael Lewis’ book Losers about that race.
For all the national buzz that the Palinesque perennial candidate has received, her supporters in her home state are comparatively lukewarm about her bid, according to the Delaware poll. Only one third of O’Donnell supporters said that they would be ‘very disappointed’ if she lost the race, compared to two-thirds of Coons supporters who said the same about the Democratic candidate.
In a disappointing year, Delaware isn’t disappointing.

It’s not necessarily a new strategy, but Republicans know that a lot of their core conservative beliefs are just not cool with moderate/independent voters. So they do the Bush thing and fake it (eg. “compassionate conservative”). Fred Barnes advises more Republicans to take this route:

* The image of Republican incumbent members (named) has become less positive in the last month.
But with his relentless diatribes against ‘illegals’ and their employers, Dobbs is casting stones from a house―make that an estate―of glass. Based on a yearlong investigation, including interviews with five immigrants who worked without papers on his properties, The Nation and the Investigative Fund at The Nation Institute have found that Dobbs has relied for years on undocumented labor for the upkeep of his multimillion-dollar estates and the horses he keeps for his 22-year-old daughter, Hillary, a champion show jumper.

Democracy Corps Poll = “October Surprise”? 1:51 pm EST October 6th, 2010 | Politics | 2 Comments
Topic: MSNBC,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Rachel Maddow

Ken Salazar:

Background here. Thanks to Maddow & crew.
Christie was elected governor of New Jersey last year after giving voters no more than a glimpse of his plans for the state. The reason was simple. Had he laid out his sweeping agenda of spending and tax cuts, he’d have given Democrats an inviting target. They surely would have tried to scare voters away from Christie, and it might have worked. Instead he concentrated on Democratic governor Jon Corzine as the main issue―and won.

Democracy Corps has just released their new poll of key congressional districts and says that polls have moved back enough in Democrats’ favor to possibly forecast an “October Surprise” where Democratic losses aren’t as big as the current conventional wisdom indicates:

Colorado Rep. John Salazar is one of 12 Democrats targeted by the conservative-leaning group as part of an advertising blitz before Election Day. But AUL confused Salazar with his brother,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], former Colorado Sen. and current Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, in a radio ad that went live this week.

Republicans are NOT racist! They just know images of brown skinned people produce pee-puddles in the homes of the easily frightened.

Shocker

Fox News Sets The Table For A Palin Quid Pro Quo? 12:42 pm EST October 6th, 2010 | Media | 6 Comments

Another conservative hypocrite of epic proportions.

The national poll conducted October 2-4 by Democracy Corps and Greenberg Quinlan Rosner shows real movement similar to changes reported by NBC News/Wall Street Journal and ABC News/Washington Post in the past week. The changes are summarized below:
A University of Delaware poll released Wednesday showed O’Donnell trailing Democrat Chris Coons by 19 points. And a Fairleigh-Dickinson University poll showed Coons up 53 percent to 36 percent.
‘Congressman Ken Salazar voted for taxpayer-funded abortions’ in Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) health care bill, the radio announcer says in the ad, obtained by Roll Call. ‘Ken Salazar says he shares our values when he’s running for re-election here at home, but in Washington he votes for the largest expansion of taxpayer-funded abortions ever.’
But they’re NOT racist.

Again: Who knows?

This is nicely put together.
